Eight Area Middle School Football Players Chosen for All-Star Team
Eight football players from Hardeman County have been selected to compete in the Seventh Annual Middle School All-Star Football game. Bolivar players Collier Howell, Colton Mayfield, Jadariun Morrow, and Deniyus Woods were nominated by Bolivar Middle School (BMS) football coaches Shawn O’Neill and Coach Jeff Baker. Middleton players Milo Bolden – tight end, AJ Cagle – defensive tackle, Annyn Cardwell – center, and Collin Taylor -linebacker were nominated by Middleton Middle School (MMS) football coaches James Davis and Bobby Taylor.
Schools were permitted to submit four player nominations.
“The players were nominated by their coaches based on performance throughout the season,” said MMS football coach James Davis. “The players were then chosen from a list of nominees by the coaches of each all-star team.”
All four nominated BMS and MMS players were chosen as all-stars.
“I am very proud of the guys that were selected,” said Coach O’Neill. “They all have a passion for football, work hard, and have excellent character on and off the field.”
This is the first year players from either team have been nominated. They will play with other athletes who compose the eastern and western middle school football teams of West Tennessee.
“The chosen players display a genuine love for the sport and their team,” said Coach Davis. “They have played excellently all year, and I believe they will represent MMS well.”
The all-star game was started by Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) Athletic Director and basketball coach Dexter Williams seven years ago when he was the Director of Schools for the West Carroll Special School District.
“The all-star game has grown since it was started. It is a very exciting event that is well attended,” said Williams who is in his second year at TCA. “The players get a chance to put on their middle school jerseys one more time and showcase their talent for all West Tennessee. In four years, we will probably be watching many of them play on television in college.”
Howell, Mayfield, Morrow, and Woods are eighth grade students and have played football for BMS for three years. Bolden, Cagle, Cardwell, and Taylor are eighth grade students and have played football for MMS for two years. You will be able to cheer for Hardeman County as all eight players are on the same all-star team.
The Seventh Annual Middle School All-Star Football game will be played at Trinity Christian School { 10 Windy City Road, Jackson, Tennessee, 38305 } on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 and may be purchased at the game.
