October 2022 – County Commission Meeting {video}

The Hardeman County Commission met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

Some of the items covered include:

Approval of the Litter Grant ($45,700) to be administered by the Sheriff.
Rescue Squad recognized for their achievements at convention {read more here}
Election Commissioner Amber Moore informed the commission that new legislation will require the purchase of new voting machines. She said the expense would be reimbursed by the state. The new legislation was approved over the summer and states, in part, “On and after January 1, 2024, and notwithstanding another law to the contrary, each voting machine used by a county election commission must produce a voter-verifiable paper audit trail.”
Tonet Griggs, Hardeman County Clerk, asked the commission to approve funds for an additional employee. She wishes to hire retired County Clerk Jerry Armstrong to assist her while former County Clerk Ms. Polly Morris is out sick. The commission approved funding for an additional employee.
Commissioner Mark Gilliam made a motion that the commission invest in electronic devices for the commissioners to use to keep up with documents such as, amendments, resolutions and budgets. The motion passed.
Maria Howell was appointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
