Grand Junction Library Highlights
November 2022 Grand Junction Library update from Director Dianne Callahan.
We had a great October at the Grand Junction Public Library! Some of the highlights were a very successful fundraiser yard sale where we made over $400 to buy more new books at our library. Most people may not know that we spend approximately $500 every month on new books for our patrons! We are totally self-supported by fundraisers and donations from the community, and both near and far friends of the library. Because of recent donations, we were able to renew our ancestry.com subscription. Once again, patrons have free access to ancestry.com via our public library! Another patron donated approximately 80 current DVDs that are now catalogued and ready to be checked out.
We also had a great genealogy workshop with Glenda Doyle helping our patrons research their family history and writing submissions for the upcoming 2023 Hardeman County Bicentennial History book. Our GED program, HiSET, is going strong and one of the participants is ready to take her final test and receive her high school equivalency diploma. That is an accomplishment!
Are you interested in a beginners computer class? Someone made the suggestion that we have a computer class at our library for those interested in hands-on instruction teaching the basic functions of a personal computer such as writing documents, saving and storing information for future use, and researching information on the web. Please stop by the library at 530 Madison Avenue West in Grand Junction or call (731) 764-2716 to sign up or get further information. Date and time of the class is dependent on the interest.
The library’s hours are:
- Tuesday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Wednesday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Thursday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Friday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
