What’s Happening at Middleton High School?

By Kayleigh Maxwell, Hatchie Press Middleton High School Student Reporter

The Middleton High School (MHS) Lady Tigers volleyball team will officially put a close to their 2022-2023 high school season. Last month, they held senior night, came in third at the county districts, and had their annual orange and black game, as well as the alumni game. The seniors this year are #16 Harlie Lester, #17 Carlee Woods, and #18 Marissa Mills. The volleyball team will be having its banquet at El Veracruz Mexican Restaurant located in Middleton on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 5 p.m. The Lady Tigers had a good and strong season, and they are sad to see it end so soon. We wish all the luck to them next year.

Even though something is always coming to an end, we are always saying hello to other events that are taking off. Last week was HOSA – Future Health Professionals (formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America) week at MHS! Members of our Health Occupations Students of America club were able to dress up and be a part of some exciting activities. The days for the week were “Medical Monday”, “Wear Green for Mental Health”, “Wound Wednesday ”, and “Throwback Thursday ”. Throughout the week, HOSA members brought awareness to the healthcare field by participating in the festivities. They wrapped up the week by hosting a HOSA cookout for members of the club. A huge thank you to Mrs. Carla Doyle, HOSA sponsor, for all her hard work and dedication to these students.

With Veteran’s Day last Friday, MHS held a Veteran’s Day program. This year’s program was directed by Dr. Mike Yopp and his MHS band. The band played a handful of songs, some being Stars and Stripe and the national anthem. They also gave tributes to all of the armed forces and interviewed some of the military veterans. Thank you all veterans for your service to this country we all share.

As always, students at MHS are working hard and prepping for state testing. One way teachers are assisting students with this is through a program called Exact Path. Our ninth and tenth graders did so well on the previous benchmark that the teachers rewarded the students’ hard work with a movie day on Friday. Way to go students! Keep up the good work!
