The Arts Council Presents Who Stole Santa’s Pants?

Christmas is exactly 41 days away and Santa has a problem over at the Hardeman County Arts Council (HCAC); his pants are missing! Any other time of year, that may be all right, but Santa needs them to ride in the annual Christmas parade. And so, the search is on to not only discover who stole Santa’s pants, but to find them in time for him to ride in the parade. After all, what is a Christmas parade without Santa?

Who Stole Santa’s Pants?, an original play by Hardeman County playwright Monita Carlin, is full of comedy that we have come to expect from Carlin who keeps audiences laughing, while still being family-friendly. Some of Carlin’s other productions that have appeared on the HCAC stage include A Night of Mystery and Mayhem that was performed at the Hardeman County Chamber Awards Banquet in September, the last two HCAC dinner theatre productions with Oh Please, Don’t Beam Me Up! and Murder at Big Horn Ranch, and many may remember her A Grievous Loss in Lip Smack, which was presented in 2010. Audience members have also had an opportunity to laugh at Carlin’s comedic style over the years as the character, Mrytle, from the Smoke on the Mountain series.

“When I sit down at the computer, all the characters in my head want to be heard,” said Carlin. “It’s the one with the loudest voice that gets put on paper. This time, it was Santa’s family that was the loudest, because Santa was quite upset that his pants were missing. Seems as if he is going to miss the Christmas parade. So you see, these shows write themselves. I only do the typing.”

Carlin has finished typing and we now get to see the result of those loud characters that are brought to life on the HCAC stage by the children and adults that appear in Who Stole Santa’s Pants?.
