Apostle Glendale Messenger ~ March 15, 1946 – November 16, 2022 (age 76)
Glendale Messenger, 76, of Bolivar passed away on Wednesday November 16, 2022, at home. He was born on March 15, 1946, to the late Lem Messenger and Bernice Jenkins Messenger.
His funeral service was held on Monday November 21, 2022, at God’s House of Promise Ministries at 1 p.m. with Minister Detrick Messenger in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.
Apostle Messenger was married for over 50 years to the late Helen Polk. He was educated in the Hardeman County public schools, McKeller Field Vocational School, and American Theology School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict era.
He was employed many years as a auto body teacher at Bolivar Central High School and had his own auto body repair business.
In 1979, God called him into the ministry and in 1980 he became pastor at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (later called God’s House of Promise Ministries). In 2002, God elevated him to Apostle with a vision for the church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, grandchildren, siblings, church family, and other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.
