Don’t Miss the Tennessee Promise Community Service Hours Deadline
Community service hours are required to remain eligible for the Tennessee Promise scholarship. Current college students, and new spring 2025 and fall 2025 recipients of the scholarship must complete eight hours prior to the beginning of each semester, trimester, or quarter. That requirement continues while they are in college and receiving the last dollar scholarship.
Hours are due to be submitted by the following dates to remain eligible:
Community service hours for students currently using the scholarship (in college now) and spring 2025 must be submitted by Monday, December 2, 2024, by 11:59 p.m. to remain eligible to receive the last dollar scholarship.
For students that will use the scholarship for the summer 2025 term, hours must be submitted by Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
For students who will use the scholarship fall 2025, they are required to complete eight hours by Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to remain eligible.
Students can volunteer onsite locally in their community { see volunteer opportunities in Hardeman County } or at locations outside of their area that have volunteer opportunities. Community service may include tutoring, environmental clean-up, job shadowing, volunteering through a non-profit, and other activities for which the student is not paid and does not benefit personally.
They are also able to complete community service hours from the comfort of their own home. tnAchieves created a series of educational and informative webinars students may watch to satisfy the community service requirement. Those videos can be accessed through the tnAchieves student portal.
One of the main benefits of doing community service is giving back to one’s community. Other benefits include exploring career interests and connecting with others in those fields.
