Community Comes Out for the Middleton Down Home Christmas Parade {video}

Middleton Elementary School Royalty – Let It Snow won Second Place for Non-Religious Float entry.

The annual Middleton Down Home Christmas Parade was held, with great expectation, on Saturday, December 17, 2022. There were more than 40 parade participants who moved through the streets of Middleton waving and throwing candy to the numbers of people who lined the street. The weather was a little chilly, but the evening went on without a drop of rain, which had caused the rescheduling of the parade to this past weekend.

Judging of the floats, ATVs, and vehicle parade entries was held in the parking lot of Middleton Elementary School before the parade. The winners were not announced until they rode past the main event area along the parade route.

While judging was being held, carolers (Betty Mills, Mitch Mills, David Pulse, Melissa Russell, Tommy Seever, LeAnne Taylor and former Hardeman County Commissioner Gary Byers) at the main event area ushered in the evening with a variety of Christmas songs and light banter. Liberty Baptist Church members were ready with hot chocolate to hand out to people to drink, and help shake off the cold and keep them warm.

As the 6 p.m. start time of the parade approached, sirens could be heard and lights seen in the distance letting all know the parade was about to begin. Gary Byers was the master of ceremony for the Middleton Down Home Christmas Parade. He announced the winners as they rode by the main event area. The winners of the parade are:
