Adoption Makes a Family for Two Siblings After Foster Care

Levi and Olivia are pictured with some of the members of their big family in which they have been adopted.

Levi and Olivia now officially share the same name with their sister, Isabella, after the adoption by their mom, Kimberly Williams, was finalized on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. After 1,001 days in foster care with Ms. Wiliams, Levi and Olivia headed home to begin living their lives with their sister, Isabella, who is also adopted. For these children, the dream of finding a loving home after foster care has become a reality and resulted in adoption.

“I love them. We’ve grown a bond.” said Ms. Williams, who has fostered Levi and Olivia for almost three years and was committed to keeping the siblings together.

Ms. Williams, who started fostering in 2013, is now the mother of eight children. She has three biological children who range in age from 32 to 36; two adopted children, who are 21 and 25; and now three more adopted children, with the oldest being 10 years old.

“I just love helping people. I am just a helper. I love community,” said Ms. Williams, who has received a lot of support from her family. “The support I’ve had from my family has been enormous.”

Olivia (seated with the judge) and Levi are all smiles with their adoption now being finalized.

It is that support from family, which has been strong through the adoption process.

“[The adoption process] is not a bad process, it is just long. It takes a lot of paperwork,” said Ms. Williams, who credits the agency representatives, which included 10 case workers. “My group of social workers have been the best. Their attorney, Ms. Delana Neill, has been with me through the whole process.”

Chris Williams, one of Ms. Williams’ older biological children, attended the Adoption Day ceremony. The admiration he has for his mother and her decision to adopt two more children resonated through the words he shared.

Mr. Williams, whom Olivia affectionately calls “best big brother”, is pictured with his siblings, Levi, Isabella, and Olivia.

“Today is a reminder that there is hope for these kids. I think this highlights the importance of adoption for kids who don’t have homes, who come from troubled past, or families of addiction and chaos. It is so important to give them a loving home and shows them they can have dreams and a family It is definitely a message for the children,” said Mr. Williams, who recognizes some of the challenges his mother faces with fostering. “At times, I question her sanity, because it is a lot. When you take these kids in, you take these kids in with issues. As much as I question sometimes, it is very admirable, especially at her age, to try and give back and want to do more. I’m blessed, because she is my mom and she is a great role model. I get my want to serve and need to serve from her.”

Ms. Williams shared she is probably done adopting, but definitely not fostering. She does encourage others to consider adoption.

“You get the experience of giving these children a home that wouldn’t have one and the experience of love and giving,” said Ms. Williams. “Having a family means everything!”

Levi, who appeared to glow in his new identity as officially being a part of a family, simply shared his feelings in a few words.

“I feel good,” said Levi.
