The Hardeman County Arts Council (HCAC) announced its 2023 HCAC Scholarship recipients as Sadie Fry of Bolivar High School (BCHS) and Natalie Milford of Middleton High School (MHS). Applicants were asked to provide a response stating why they should be selected for the HCAC Scholarship in relation to a major or minor in the arts and/or related fields, and their future plans. The students who applied for the scholarship were selected by the HCAC scholarship committee.

Sadie, who is the daughter of Blake and Jennifer Fry, graduated fourth in the BCHS class of 2023, and was recognized as a Wall of Fame senior. She appeared in the HCAC productions of Honky Tonk Angels and Beauty and the Beast, Jr. During her high school years, Sadie has been recognized academically on the All A’s Honor Roll; Excellence in Honors for Algebra I and Algebra II, and Biology; and Honors Pre-Calculus Award. She was a winner in the Bolivar Idol; Hardeman’s Got Talent, Third Place; and Top Runway Model 2023 for Lights, Camera, Fashion. She has also been active in her church as a member of the praise and worship team, and as a camp and vacation Bible school counselor. Sadie will attend Mississippi State University to major in kinesiology and neuromechanics with plans to pursue a career in the medical field.

Natalie is the daughter of Brandon and LuAnne Milford, and took honors classes from ninth through twelfth grades. She assisted in church and food distribution and community outreach, and was a volunteer at the Middleton Community Library. Natalie will attend The University of Tennessee at Martin to major in graphic design with plans to pursue a career as a freelance graphic designer.

Each school year, the HCAC scholarship is open to seniors pursuing a college major or minor in the arts and/or related fields. Degree programs in art, creative writing, dance, drama, literature, and music, as well as teaching in these areas or related fields, will be considered. Students who have participated in an HCAC production on stage or behind the scenes, but are not pursuing one of those areas of study, are also eligible to apply.
