Arts Council Goes Digital
Your name in lights has new meaning for the Hardeman County Arts Council (HCAC) with the installation of an LED sign and digital message center. It is out with the old signage and in with the new that provides another means for the HCAC to connect with the community.
“The HCAC has explored installing an LED message center for many years, but the cost of the project did not allow it to happen,” said HCAC President Brandon Burvee. “The new sign was a gift to the HCAC from Hardeman County. The county was able to purchase the sign using American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds.”
The funds were made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (H.R. 1319), which states “This bill provides additional relief to address the continued impact of COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) on the economy, public health, state and local governments, individuals, and businesses.” The needed funds have enabled recipients to continue to operate and just maintain, as well as provide the services and support of its offerings to the community.
Burvee explained with the old sign, someone had to climb a ladder and change out the letters for each production.
“The new sign allows the HCAC to remotely update the information on the sign from anywhere using a cellular connection,” said Burvee. “It will also be more engaging as it is a full color LED message center.”
With the functionality of the new sign, the HCAC will be able to easily update the information, and more often.
“The HCAC will also be able to increase communication with the community by having the ability to put multiple messages on the sign where the old sign just had room for one event,” said Burvee. “We are thankful to Mayor Jimmy Sain, the Hardeman County Commissioners, and the Hardeman County community for their support and this gift to the HCAC.”
