Author Dianne Callahan Discusses Seasons of Life in New Book

Dianne Callahan is a Christian, loves to read, and now may be called an accidental author having just published her first book, Seasons of Life for the Christian Woman. Accidental, because she has no writing experience other than papers completed in school. Despite that, Ms. Callahan was determined to fill a void she saw in women’s Bible studies.
“I was teaching a ladies’ class at church and wanted to focus on the different perspectives and outlooks we have at different times in our lives,” said Ms. Callahan, who is the director at the Grand Junction Library. “When researching that angle, I discovered there was very little material on it from a Christian perspective and even less information from a Christian woman’s perspective.”
Ms. Callahan spent months working on her book with the hope of addressing the “good and bad” of a life journey, as well as the beauty, joy, and blessings in each season of life.
“We all have challenges throughout life, but we also have many blessings in each season. To be truly happy, one must focus on serving others although that service looks very different during each season. The primary goal of this book is to help those searching to find meaning, direction, and purpose in this life journey,” said Ms. Callahan.
Because Ms. Callahan knew what she wanted to share with readers, she found the writing experience easier than she thought it would be. The challenge came during the publishing process.
“The most challenging part was the actual publishing experience. I used LibreOffice during the writing but when I went to publish through Amazon KDP, I learned it needed to be in PDF. The conversion was a nightmare! If I write another book, I will definitely pay for Microsoft Word which is much, much, much easier to convert to PDF,” said Ms. Callahan.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Ms. Callahan held a book signing at the Grand Junction Library to reveal Seasons of Life for the Christian Woman, which she hopes will bless and be enjoyed by readers.

“I want every reader to realize that regardless of circumstances in this life, we can overcome the challenges and live happy, productive lives,” said Ms. Callahan.
She wrote the 13-chapter book for personal reading and also designed it to be used as a study guide in a Bible class, preferably with different ages in attendance. Ms. Callahan noted that opens the opportunity for dialogue and facilitates understanding between different age groups. Seasons of Life for the Christian Woman may be used as a three-month study, focusing on one chapter per week.
“This book offers solutions for the Christian woman in each season of life. The book is filled with scripture references for personal study and reference. The first chapter is an overview and then three chapters are devoted to each season,” said Ms. Callahan. “Spring is exciting but also challenging with the many choices that must be made. Summer is busy, busy, busy but it is also the season of strength. Many people think the empty nest years, or autumn, should be the easiest but more often than not, it does not turn out that way. We are pulled between aging parents, young adult children, and then grandchildren, resulting in stresses never before experienced. Finally, the winter is here and where has the time gone? We have more years behind us than are ahead and that can be depressing, if we let it.”
Although she is the author, Ms. Callahan made a surprising discovery about her own work once it was finished, and shared with readers.
“Although it was written primarily to women, several men have read it and commented that it was extremely helpful to them,” said Ms. Callahan. “That shows that we all have much more in common than we may think!”
Seasons of Life for the Christian Woman is available for check out at the Grand Junction Library. It can also be purchased at the Library for $15 as well as ordered online at Amazon.
