BEA’s Broadband Network Complete; Gigabit Internet Now Available Across Service Territory

Bolivar, Tenn. – December 2023

Bolivar Energy Authority (BEA) achieves a significant milestone by completing its 100% gigabit-capable broadband network, offering Aeneas Internet and Telephone to all electric customers across BEA-served communities. This transformative project, completed months ahead of schedule, brings high-speed, reliable fiber internet to homes and businesses in Hardeman County and surrounding regions.

Tony Kirk, President/CEO of BEA, emphasizes the community’s overwhelming positive response. “People now feel connected to the world in ways they weren’t before—it’s life-changing.” Local education has also experienced a remarkable shift: “Our schools are buzzing with excitement. Students can now complete schoolwork and classes at home, access a wealth of knowledge from anywhere, and even participate in STEM programs that were previously out of reach,” Kirk shared.

Critical to the project’s success are Irby Utilities, an all-in-one material supplier and project services partner, and Aeneas Internet and Telephone, a Tennessee-based partner chosen for its fiber and telephone service expertise. “Completing this fiber network has been one of the most rewarding undertakings for our community. It’s taken all of us, with heavy collaboration from Irby Utilities and Aeneas, to make this a reality, and it’s been more than worth it,” shared Kirk.

In addition to these partnerships, politicians, the school board, and other local groups have rallied behind the initiative. This collective support has helped the broadband entity achieve an impressive 37% take rate, gaining 3,400 subscribers in just 20 months.

Aeneas Internet and Telephone services are now available to every resident and business Bolivar Energy Authority serves. To get connected, visit fiber.aeneas.com or call (731) 554-9200 and speak to local representatives.
