Bethany Miller’s Heart for Children Leads to Next Career Move

Bethany Miller is already a familiar face to children and adults in the county, having worked in the Hardeman County Schools system for more than 20 years. In January 2025, Ms. Miller made her next career move, assuming a new role in administration as an assistant vice-principal at Bolivar Elementary School (BES).
Ms. Miller’s heart for nurturing children and preparing them for successful futures has been a mission of hers all the way back to her early college years while a student at the University of Northern Iowa.
“Before I started teaching, I was putting on summer camps across the country with Camp Adventure Youth Services housed at the University of Northern Iowa,” said Ms. Miller, who before moving to BES, was an assistant principal and guidance counselor at Whiteville Elementary School.
As a 1998 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, Ms. Miller brings a background in education, which includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2003, a Master of Science degree from Virginia State University in 2005, and a Master of Arts degree from Austin Peay University in 2023. She has taken courses at Jackson State Community College and the University of Memphis.
Ms. Miller will also assume responsibility of the BES ABC building, which was previously under the direction of Ginger Crowe, who was named BES principal in January.
“I am looking forward to helping our students and parents navigate our school system,” said Ms. Miller, who maintains a similar perspective as a Hardeman County Commissioner desiring to “connect with the people she represents” to provide a better understanding. “I look forward to working with all children and the faculty and staff of Bolivar Elementary School.”
