Bolivar Central High School Tigers Continue Winning Momentum

The Bolivar Central High School basketball Tigers are on a roll this 2022/2023 season. After winning the district 13AA regular season and tournament on Monday, February 20, 2023, the Martin Luther King College Preparatory High School (MLK Prep) Rams were not able to stop the momentum the Tigers have started as they move closer towards the 2A Boys Region 7 championship game.

The BCHS Tigers played at home on Saturday, February 25, 2023, against the MLK Prep Rams showing them as much courtesy as they could before beating them and sending the Rams home with a loss and a Tigers victory of 87-73.

BCHS coach Cameron Crisp is pleased with his team of players who have worked hard all season long during practices and continue to impress on the court during games.

“I’m not surprised with their level of play,” said BCHS coach Crisp. “They work extremely hard in practice every day.”

Although Coach Crisp is the head coach and receives much attention for the performance of the team on the court, he does credit his assistant coaching staff of Quincy Bowers, Demitrice Beauregard, Cameron Clifft, William McBroom, and James Rhodes for helping him train the players. There is a bond there.

“I played middle school ball with Coach Bowers and have played pickup ball with the other coaches,” said Crisp.

The coaches work as a team and have managed to bring out the best traits and skills from the players this season.

“My assistant coaches have been a blessing to the kids and myself with their positive energy and their love for these young men. I couldn’t ask for a better staff,” said Crisp.

Tigers Fans who attended the game on Saturday were able to see what a strong coaching “team” can do with a team of well-trained basketball players.

Coach Crisp shared some memorable moments from the game on Saturday.

“Jamarion Anderson’s big rebound in the second half and Tracy Jones’ big block in the fourth quarter were some of the plays that stood out to me,“ said Coach Crisp.

BCHS Tiger Jamarion Anderson goes for the layup.

The BCHS Tigers will be in practice this week as they prepare for their next game against the Memphis Business Academy on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 6 p.m. The game will be played at Fredrick Douglass High School in Memphis.
