Bolivar Energy Authority Starts Rolling Blackouts

Update 12/24/22 at 5:15 a.m. from BEA: In an effort to help with the heavy electric load requirements facing TVA this morning, TVA has again initiated rolling blackouts. This is necessary to keep from having wider outages. Please be patience as we all work thru this situation. Blackouts will continue to be for 15 minutes until TVA removes the order. Thanks for your patience.

Bolivar Energy Authority has started rolling blackouts every 15 minutes per Tennessee Valley Authority to help with the current electricity demands. BEA apologizes for any inconvenience, but each person’s help with conservation will help greatly. BEA asks you to help conserve power by turning off any unnecessary lights and putting off using major appliances until later. The blackouts should only last around 15 minutes.

A warming center in Hardeman County will be available for those who experience an extended power outage.

The City of Bolivar, in collaboration with the Hardeman County EMA, will assist residents who may experience extended power outages during this time of extreme cold and winter precipitation. Call (731) 658-5101 for more information.
