Chief Lynn Price announced that Mauriceo Beauregard has been named the 2022 Firefighter of the Year for the Bolivar Fire Department. Mauriceo has continuously demonstrated his commitment to public service in our community. He began his career in the fire service as a volunteer firefighter for the Toone Fire Department in 2016. Mauriceo also currently serves as a volunteer firefighter for the Grand Junction Fire Department. He joined the Bolivar Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter in July 2021.

“During Mauriceo’s service with the department, he has provided countless hours of service in fire suppression and operational support roles. His willingness to serve the residents of Bolivar and this department has earned him this most esteemed honor,” said Fire Chief Lynn Price.

Mayor McTizic added, “Mauriceo’s commitment and dedication to the residents of Bolivar exemplifies the characteristics of a public servant. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments and thank him for his unwavering service.”

Mauriceo is married to Monica Beauregard. He lives in Bolivar and is a graduate of Bolivar Central High School. In his spare time, he is a substitute teacher, a member of Zion Temple Worship Center, and loves to play the drums.

Chief Price presented the 2022 Community Service Award to Jeff “Goose” Goss.

During their Christmas gathering, Chief Price also presented the 2022 Community Service Award to Jeff “Goose” Goss. Since becoming a business owner here in Bolivar, Goose has gone above and beyond the call to support the department, and he ensures the department’s on-duty staff are provided with meals throughout the holidays.

“This kind gesture means so much to our staff, and it is greatly appreciated,” said Chief Price.
