Bolivar Middle School Students Join Others Globally in Prayer

It was a time to pray on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Bolivar Middle School (BMS) as students gathered in unison for the annual See You at the Pole™, a global day of student prayer. See You at the Pole™ (SYATP) has history that dates back to 1990. During the student-led event, participants spend the time lifting “their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God”.

“Prayer is a crucial part of the Christian faith. Jesus gifted us with the ability to come to the father by his death on the cross,” said Dawson Dickie, associate pastor at Parrans Chapel Baptist Church. “See You at the Pole™ offers an opportunity for teachers and students to come before the Lord in prayer for the school, and the people in it.”

Associate pastor Dickie, who has been with Parrans Chapel for about one month, worked with the BMS students who led the prayer vigil. He too participated in the event when he was a young student in school. BMS students gathered in 2024 for the SYATP event.

“Today, we spent a lot of time praying for love and forgiveness in the school. The students are desiring, whether they know it or not, what Jesus can do in their lives,” said associate pastor Dickie, who encourages the community to support students in the spiritual life and the teachers and staff. “Continue to be in prayer for our students and teachers and staff. They play a significant role in the development of the kids in the community. It is important for us to serve them through prayer every day!”

A reflection on the morning of prayer reminded associate pastor Dickie of what he hopes many come to also realize, if they have not already.

“Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. The way that we get to a school, community, and country that cares for, loves, and respects each other is to make your relationship with the Lord the most important thing in your life,” said associate pastor Dickie.
