Bolivar Police Department Investigates Tuesday Shooting

BPD is investigating a shooting in Bolivar that occurred on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

Bolivar, Tennessee – On August 30, 2022, at approximately 11:07 a.m., Bolivar Police Department officers responded to the 500 block of Elm Street for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim left the scene and was transported to the Bolivar General Hospital by a private vehicle. The victim was identified as Donmarius Trevonta “Tre” Coby, a 24-year-old black male from Bolivar. Mr. Coby was later flown by helicopter to Regional One Health Medical Center, where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries.


During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect(s) fled toward the Madison County area. Later that afternoon, the suspect(s’) vehicle was located in Jackson, Tennessee. After a brief pursuit, one person was taken into custody. The suspect has been identified as Octavious Cordal Buntyn, a 28-year-old black male from Jackson, Tennessee. He is currently being held in Jackson pending arraignment on charges of Driving on a Revoked License and Evading Arrest. Upon disposition of those charges, he will be transferred to Hardeman County, Tennessee, to face a charge of Attempted First Degree Murder.

As this remains an active, ongoing investigation, no further details will be released at this time.
