Bolivar Considers Armory Building for Sports Complex – YMCA, Public Meeting to be Held

In April 2023, the City of Bolivar Council gave Mayor McTizic approval to seek funding for a multi-purpose sports complex. The original plan indicated it would be located at West Park in Bolivar. Since then, Mayor McTizic has announced the possibility of it being located at the National Guard Armory building next to Walmart.

“For this facility, the City of Bolivar would purchase the National Guard Armory building. The current plans for the facility include a public playground, YMCA child care facilities, a three-court multi-purpose gymnasium with pickleball layout and concessions, outdoor swimming pool, wellness center, group exercise area, and four baseball/ softball fields, batting cage, press box, and concessions. The facility will be ADA accessible with ample parking,” shared Mayor McTizic in a recent Facebook post.

A Public Interest Meeting has been planned for Monday, May 5, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Bolivar City Hall. This will give residents a chance to ask questions, show support, or express concerns.
