Both County High Schools Begin Spring Semester with New Leadership

Hardeman County high school students were greeted by two new faces when they returned for the beginning of the spring semester this week as both Bolivar Central High School (BCHS) and Middleton High School (MHS) have new principals taking the reins.

James Crocker, who has been the principal at Bolivar Central since August of 2022, is starting this semester as principal at Middleton.

Crocker, who is a Hardeman County native, has spent his entire career in education as a part of the Hardeman County School District. He started his career in education at BCHS in 2002, where he taught and coached football for 10 years and then transferred to Middleton High School where he taught and coached football and tennis for another 10 years. Crocker graduated from Middleton High School in 1996. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Mississippi State University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.

Brittney Avent, who is a 2008 graduate of Bolivar Central, was selected to fill his vacancy at BCHS. Avent served as principal of Haywood High School in Brownsville from 2020-2023. She has also taught at Bolivar Central, Ripley High School, and served as Director of Career Technical Education with the Haywood County Schools. Brittany graduated from Bolivar Central High School and has a bachelor’s degree from University of Tennessee at Martin and a Master of Science in Education from Arkansas State University.
