Casshawndra Sain Leads By Example as New Whiteville Elementary School Principal

Whiteville Elementary School (WES) students will see a new face on campus this fall as Casshawndra Sain begins her first year as the WES principal. Ms. Sain accepts her new position with humility and looks forward to the opportunity.

“’To whom much is given, much is required’ referencing Luke 12:48. It’s truly a blessing and an opportunity that I am grateful for,” said Sain. “It means there is work to be done, and while leading by example, I am privileged to be a part of the great things that are going on at Whiteville Elementary.”

Principal Sain has a Bachelor of Science in Education and Special Education Modified K-12 Endorsement from Lambuth University, a Master of Arts in Education Degree, and an Administrative Endorsement from Bethel University. She has 23 years of experience in education having worked as a special education teacher, assistant principal, and an athletic director. Principal Sain is a native of Madison County and has worked in that school district as well as in Hardeman County.

Sain thanks her husband, Ericko, a Hardeman County native, and children, Javarus, Jay, Kiya, Kierra, Kaeli, and Rico II for their love and support during this transition. She also gives credit to her mother, Pearlie, and sisters for always being by her side. Sain has been in preparation at WES for the students’ return on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, and continuing where Mr. Crisp left off leading the school. Mr. Crisp has done great things at WES and has been very involved during my transition.

“I am looking forward to establishing positive relationships with all stakeholders, the staff, students, parents, and community members,” said Sain. “I am looking forward to making a positive impact on the students.”

Sain has areas in which she would like to focus on that include desegregating data to identify student needs (areas of weaknesses), achievements (areas of strengths), and challenges. Response to Intervention (RTI) and intervention tools, strategies, and curriculum are her other areas of focus. Principal Sain is encouraged about the school year and looking forward to working with the current staff and teachers at WES.

“Whiteville’s teachers are invested and love teaching and helping students thrive. Whiteville has great support from the parents and community. I’d like to continue that as we all work together taking a holistic approach, striving to daily meet the unique needs of our students, emotional, social, ethical, and academic needs,” said Sain.

A School Supply Giveaway event will be held at WES on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The community is invited to come out to meet the teachers and Principal Sain.

“I am very transparent and have an open-door policy. I am consistent and fair and will always put the needs of the students first and do what is best for them,” said Sain. “I am very optimistic about the upcoming school year, and I am looking forward to working with all stakeholders To empower all students to reach and expand their potential academically (and in all areas) while preparing them to be productive, responsible members of society.”
