Community Comes Together to Fill Fayette Cares Food Pantry This Season

This season, the community is proving just how powerful it can be when people come together to support the work of Fayette Cares. The annual Christmas Caring food distribution is taking new shape as groups across the area are donating food and funds as part of the larger community effort that feeds and uplifts neighbors in need.

Among these caring supporters are St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, whose parishioners are using their joyful Yam-O-Meter to track progress toward collecting 300 cans of sweet potatoes. Somerville Animal Hospital is joining the effort by “getting stuffed,” collecting boxes of stuffing to help fill holiday food baskets. Ring Container Technologies is “spreading the love” in a big way with 300 jars of peanut butter, and the women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Mu Zeta Zeta Chapter are keeping pantry shelves strong at a time when food needs have risen due to recent SNAP challenges.

These are just a few of the Fayette Cares partners taking on one piece of the mission, all working together for a new approach to making Christmas brighter for those who need it most.

Volunteer efforts to fill food boxes will also change this year to better coordinate with hunger relief allies.  The distribution location has changed and food will be delivered to families. Due to limited space, volunteers will need to sign up for specific tasks in advance.

If your group would like to champion a food item and join this powerful movement as a volunteer, visit FayetteCares.org/Christmas to learn more. Monetary gifts are also welcome, stretch farther, and allow Fayette Cares to purchase what’s most needed when it’s needed most. Donations can be made at FayetteCares.org/donate.

Together, our community is filling plates, lifting hearts, and spreading hope all season long.
