Communities In Schools Partnership Brings Warmth to Hardeman County Students

Communities In Schools (CISTN) is bringing warmth to students in Hardeman County through a partnership with United Data Technologies (UDT), a national technology solutions leader focused on delivering enterprise IT and telecommunication solutions. UDT recently donated 200 brand new winter coats, hats, and gloves to CISTN to help kickstart the nonprofit’s winter coat drive ahead of the colder months and holiday season.
Hardeman County is one of the 16 CISTN counties served across the Volunteer State. CISTN is a nationwide nonprofit organization that strives to reduce absenteeism and improve graduation rates, by providing in-school support that connects students and families to the community-based resources they need.
“Every child deserves the chance to learn without worrying about whether their basic needs are met. When kids have food on the table, clothes to wear, and someone looking out for them, they can focus on what really matters – learning, exploring, and growing,” said Simon Weller, UDT’s Chief Technology Officer – Service Provider Unit and one of several senior UDT executives based in Tennessee. “That’s why we stand with organizations like Communities in Schools that provide this kind of support. Together, we can make sure Tennessee’s children have the foundation they need to thrive in school and in life.”
The cold weather gear collected during the coat drive will be distributed across the 16-county region Communities In Schools of Tennessee serves, which also includes Bedford County, Bledsoe County, Clay County, Davidson County, Fentress County, Grundy County, Hamilton County, Jackson County, Lake County, Lauderdale County, Marshall County, Morgan County, Putnam County, Scott County, and Van Buren County.
“Thank you to UDT for partnering with us on the winter gear drive,” said Meredith Benton, CEO of Communities In Schools of Tennessee. “It’s not every day you have a company proactively reaching out to you with an offer to help our children and families. This much-needed clothing will put smiles on so many faces, and we are so appreciative of UDT’s generosity and commitment to supporting children across the state.”
