Comptroller Reports Findings in Hardeman County Audit

The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury has completed its audit of the basic financial statements of Hardeman County for the year ending June 30, 2024.

The audit resulted in five findings and recommendations, which the Comptroller has reviewed with Hardeman County management.

The following are summaries of the audit findings:

Office of the County Mayor

• Expenditures exceeded appropriations in the General Fund.

• The accrued leave policy for Hardeman County Emergency Medical Service had not been properly approved.

Office of Highway Superintendent

• The Highway/Public Works Fund required material audit adjustments for proper financial statement presentation.

Office of Director of Schools

• Several budget amendments posted in the General Purpose School Fund were not approved by the county commission.

Office of Trustee

• The office had accounting deficiencies
