County Leaders Proclaim October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month
Hardeman County Mayor Todd Pulse and Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic came together on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, to recognize and commemorate the 79th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
During the program, Old Hatchie Veterinary Clinic was honored with the 2024 National Disability Employment Awareness Month Award for its support of disability employment.
Both mayors signed a proclamation declaring October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month to help raise public awareness of disability employment.
The Proclamation reads, in part;
WHEREAS, October 2024 marks the 79th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month; and
WHEREAS, The purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Workplaces welcoming of the talents of all people, including people with disabilities, are a critical part of our efforts to build an inclusive community and strong economy. Activities during this month affirm that the City of Bolivar commitment to increasing access to good jobs for all workers, including disabled workers; and
WHEREAS, That the City of Bolivar, Tennessee recognizes and commemorate the 79th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month; and
WHEREAS, That the City of Bolivar pledges to continue to take steps throughout the year to recruit, hire, retain, and advance individuals with disabilities and work to pursue the goals of opportunity, full participation, economic self-sufficiency, and independent living for people with disabilities. We challenge others within our community to do the same.
