County Veterans to be Recognized at Annual Ceremony
The annual Hardeman County Veterans Day Program will be held at the Bolivar Municipal Center on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10 a.m.
The ceremony was created more than 15 years ago by Frances Ward to honor her husband, First Sergeant with the US Army (Retired) William T. (Rick) Ward, and other military veterans in Hardeman County for their years of service. Since Mrs. Ward’s passing in January 2019, the ceremony has continued under the direction of her daughter, Vicki Ward Ridenhour.
“It is important for the veterans to be recognized, because of their service. We are thankful for their service and for keeping our country safe. We want them to know how much they are appreciated,” said Ridenhour, who shared some words after the 2023 ceremony. “My mother wanted myself, the committee members, and volunteers to continue holding the program. Everyone involved was happy to do so. It means a lot to the veterans, the community, and the sponsors.”
All Hardeman County military veterans are invited to attend the ceremony with their family. Family members of deceased veterans are also invited to attend in honor of their veteran.
The Veterans Day Program and the Wall of Honor at the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library are ways Hardeman County veterans are being remembered.
