Dinner and Auction Raise Support for Hardeman’s Carl Perkins Center

Small Shack was the featured entertainment of the evening.
Marlene Cabanaw catered the dinner, and Bobby Sain led the live auction.

The Hardeman County Exchange Club – Carl Perkins Center held “A Night in Emerald City” dinner and auction on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Hardeman County Agri-Business Center. The Wizard of Oz theme reminded attendees that “There’s No Place Like a Safe Home“. The evening featured a catered dinner, live music, a silent auction full of items from local businesses, and a live auction, which included vacation getaways and autographed sports memorabilia amongst other items.

The Hardeman County Center is 100 percent funded through community donations and grants, which is why events like this are so important. It costs $600 to fund one child for the year, which includes therapy, forensic interviews, and other assistance needed.

Sponsors of the event included Bolivar Energy Authority, CB&S Bank, Centennial Bank, Clark Engineering & Utility Solutions, Scott and Kathy Ledbetter, Old Hatchie Veterinary Clinic, and Regions Bank.

The Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Centers offer a variety of services to families who have been affected by child abuse. Services include nurturing parenting classes, crisis intervention, 24 hour crisis hotline, emergency assistance, community education and awareness, behavioral therapy, forensic interviews, and victim advocacy.


The mission of the the Carl Perkins Center is to provide support to families in preventing and dealing with child abuse in West Tennessee and to help both parents and children meet the practical needs of preserving and improving the quality of family life.
