Bolivar City Council Member Dylan Hill is resigning to accept a new full time position as Community Development and Tourism Director for the City of Bolivar.

Hill has been serving on the Bolivar City Council since 2021. He won the May 18, 2021, election when he ran against Joyce McKinnie Woods for Councilman District B, Position 4. Hill served his last city council meeting on Monday, October 3, 2022, and will begin serving as the City of Bolivar Community Development and Tourism Director on Monday, October 17, 2022.

In his new position, Hill will be working to bring people into town.

“Bolivar, Tennessee is the definition of small-town life,” said Hill. “I think that is one thing we need to really lean in to. We have the most hospitable and loving people around. I believe that if we sell that culture to the surrounding areas and those looking to come into the area, people will come to us in droves. Of course, we have to have that initial draw. Something to ‘get them in the door’, so to speak. I will be working on bringing in new events and entertainment opportunities that will hopefully bring in people to see what Bolivar is all about.”

Hill says he is looking forward to all we can accomplish together.

“The main focus of my campaign for city council was that, to be successful, we had to tap into our greatest resource: each other,” said Hill. “I still believe this to be true. I won’t be successful if I try to go about this alone. The best PR for our town will be its people. I look forward to being able to get out in the community and work alongside our business owners and stakeholders to take Bolivar to new heights.”

Hill is also serving his last week as the First Baptist Church Bolivar Minister of Students and Education.

“My time on staff at FBC Bolivar is coming to a close. Over the last 28 years, First Baptist Church of Bolivar has poured into my life,” said Hill. “Four years ago, they entrusted me with leading our youth ministry. I am thankful for the time that God used me at FBC and will continue there as an active member.”

Citizens interested in applying for the open council position must live in West Bolivar and be a registered voter. Resumes may be submitted to Bolivar City Hall. Contact the Bolivar City Hall for more information at (731) 658-2020.

The city council will be voting on Hill’s replacement at its next meeting on Monday, November 14, 2022.

The Bolivar City Council meets on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at the Bolivar Municipal Center.
