Early Voting Ends Today, February 27
Voters have until 4:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, February 27, 2024, to cast their ballot for early voting in the Presidential Preference Primary and County Primary Election. Today is also the deadline to request absentee ballots. Election Day is Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
Voters should be prepared to allow extra time as this will be the first election in Hardeman County using newly purchased voting equipment. The new equipment was purchased in response to a new law which states that by Monday, January 1, 2024, each voting machine used by a county election commission must produce a voter-verifiable paper audit trail.
Beginning with this election, a paper ballot will be printed out for each voter. The voter will make their selection using a blue or black ink pen and then deposit their ballot into a scanner, which will scan and record the votes.
“Almost one million citizens cast their ballots early during the 2020 Presidential Preference Primary,” said Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins. “We encourage all eligible Tennesseans who have not registered to vote to do so, vote early, and let your voices be heard.”
While the deadline to register to vote in the Presidential Preference Primary and County Primary Election has passed, citizens may still register to vote for the Thursday, August 1, 2024, State and Federal Primary and State and County General Election. Early voting for the Presidential Preference Primary and County Primary Election will take place Wednesday, February 14, through Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Hardeman County Election Commission office, 106 South Porter Street, in Bolivar. Early voting hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Election Day is Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
