Early Voting has Begun for the City of Bolivar Election

Early voting for the City of Bolivar Municipal Election began Wednesday, April 30, 2025, and runs through Thursday, May 15, 2025. Election Day will be Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Voters in the City of Bolivar will elect a mayor and councilmen. Only one candidate qualified for the mayors race, incumbent Julian McTizic.

Voters in District A will be asked to vote for two council positions. Only one candidate qualified for District A, Position 3; incumbent Melvin Golden. Only one candidate qualified for District A, Position 4; incumbent Tommie Woods.

Voters in District B will be asked to vote for two council positions. Only one candidate qualified for District B, Position 2; incumbent Suzanne Rhea. Two candidates qualified for District B, Position 4; incumbent Michael Brown and Gwenda Woods.

Early voting will take place at the Election Commission office in Bolivar, which recently relocated to 227 Lucy Black Road, Bolivar, Tennessee. {click here to read more about the recent move} Voting hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Voters should be prepared to use the newly purchased voting equipment. The equipment was purchased in response to a new law which states by Monday, January 1, 2024, each voting machine used by a county election commission must produce a voter-verifiable paper audit trail.

A paper ballot is now printed for each voter. The voter will make their selection using a blue or black ink pen and then deposit their ballot into a scanner, which will scan and record the votes.
