On Friday September 15, 2023, the Elcanaan Community Help Organization (ECHO) held a Fundraising Banquet at the Whiteville Elementary School gymnasium on behalf of the establishment of the Allen White Center for Education and Cultural Advancement. This initiative is an attempt to restore the former Rosenwald Building that was located on the former campus of the Allen-White High School in Whiteville, Tennessee. Attendance at the event included former Allen-White students, family members of former students, well wishers and friends. Over 150 were in attendance. Several thousand dollars was raised to support the effort. 80th District Representative Johnny Shaw was the featured speaker. Representative Shaw’s inspirational message challenged those in attendance to support this historical preservation project as it will continue to serve the needs of the community and promote the legacy that was established by the Allen-White High School. County Mayor Todd Pulse introduced Representative Shaw.

The committee wishes to thank all for their support. For more information about ECHO, please connect to www.allenwhitecenter.org.
