Election Commission Holds Biennial Reorganization

The Hardeman County Election Commission underwent a biennial reorganization at its meeting on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Earlier this month, the State Election Commission, which is responsible for appointing five county election commissioners for every county in the state, voted to re-appoint Carl Gibson, Joan Henderson, James Hicks, and Sharolyn Mitchell, and appointed one new member, Don Young, to oversee elections in Hardeman County. This is done on the first Monday in April in every odd-numbered year.

The five county election commissioners then unanimously re-appointed Amber Moore to serve as the Administrator of Elections for Hardeman County. Mrs. Moore was first appointed as administrator in November 2005.

The state commissioners are responsible for monitoring the activities and performance of the county election commissioners and it is the responsibility of the county election commissioners to employ an administrator of elections.
