Fayette County Reports Two Tornado Fatalities
On April 4, 2025, at 1:42 a.m., a tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service for the southeast corner of Fayette County. A tornado was tracking northeast from Mississippi towards the city of Lagrange, Tennessee.
At 1:46 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched on a call from a resident on Sweet Road advising that a house had been struck by a tornado and the occupants were missing.
“At this time I can confirm two deaths as a result of the tornado that struck the modular home on Sweet Rd. outside of Moscow in Fayette County. A 48 year old male was pronounced dead on the scene and his 16 yr old daughter later died at the hospital. The mother (46) was transported to the hospital in critical condition after Fayette County Fire conducted a rescue to extricate her from the home which was she was trapped underneath. Two other family members were transported to the hospital in stable condition,” shared Fayette County Chief Deputy Raymond Garcia.
