Fayette Ware English teacher, Frankland Strickland, who was chosen as Teacher of the Year at the high-school level in 2018-2019, was arrested on Saturday, December 30, 2023, and charged with solicitation of a minor (5 counts) and sexual exploitation of a minor (5 counts) after the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated a claim that a minor had been receiving sexually explicit messages from a teacher at Fayette Ware High School.

On Friday, December 15, 2023, Fayette County Investigators served a search warrant on Frankland Strickland at Fayette Ware High School, and seized his cell phone and laptop.

According to the affidavit of complaint, Strickland confirmed he had sent the messages, but said they were sent as jokes.

During interviews, two children confirmed that Strickland had requested nude photographs of them through Instagram. Four male juveniles confirmed being in the chats with Frankland Strickland.

During the search of Strickland’s cell phone, five images of minors engaged in sexual acts or that were patently offensive were found on the device.
