First Baptist Church Bolivar Reveals Sanctuary Renovation

Anticipation of morning worship service at First Baptist Church (FBC) Bolivar on Sunday, October 12, 2025, was enhanced by the reveal of the newly remodeled sanctuary. The project, which started in April 2025, exceeded the expectations of the parishioners and now leads FBC into a new era in its history.

“It’s just amazing and looks so different! It has been many years since it was renovated,” said Pam Hazlegrove, First Baptist Church Financial Secretary, who noted the current church building was built in 1961.

During the renovation, FBC did not allow the work to stall its ministry and held its services at the Hardeman County Arts Center in Bolivar. The renovation allowed the church to make several upgrades, some which included audio and visual tech and lighting. Although the floor plan and layout are the same, worshiping in the sanctuary which seats more than 300 people is a more pleasant and beautiful experience.

A special feature connecting the old to the new was the addition in the baptistry of one of the stained-glass windows from the FBC church, which was previously located uptown in Bolivar.

“We had a stained-glass window from the church uptown that was where the Denton and Carey office was. It was in a display case in the back, and we added that into the baptistry,” said Ms. Hazlegrove. “It pulled in the old along with the new.”

FBC plans to hold a dedication service in November.

First Baptist Church Bolivar is located at 826 West Market Street in Bolivar. Sunday worship is at 10 a.m.
