Ford Motor Company Shifts Blue Oval Focus to Gas-Powered Trucks

The Ford Motor Company has made a significant move regarding Blue Oval City, deciding to shift from manufacturing all-electric trucks to building ones, which are “affordable and gas-powered.” The move was shared in an announcement from the company on Monday, December 15, 2025. According to the Ford Motor Company, the shift in production is based on consumer demand, which has shown more interest in the market for hybrids and efficient gasoline vehicles than EVs as it originally believed.

In 2021, the 5.6-billion-dollar Ford Blue Oval project slated for Stanton, Tennessee was expected to provide over 6,000 jobs by 2025. The number of jobs as well as many of the original plans for the venture have changed in the past four years. With the latest news of the plan to delay the original EV truck launch, the Ford Motor Company shared additional expected changes, which include the delay of the EV next-generation F-150 being manufactured in Tennessee.

One positive side, although some layoffs may occur, is the Ford Motor Company hopes to maintain the employment level at close to 2,200 employees at Blue Oval City. The gas-powered trucks will be produced in 2029.
