Former Circuit Court Clerk Linda Fulghum Honored at Commissioner Meeting

Hardeman County Mayor Todd Pulse recognized Linda K. Fulghum, who served as the Hardeman County Circuit Court Clerk for nearly 50 years before retiring in 2018, by reading a resolution in her memory and honor during the May 16, 2023, Hardeman County Commission meeting. Mayor Pulse invited Mrs. Fulghum’s son, Mark, and his wife Ellen, and their children, Becca Jeter and Ben Fulghum, who were in attendance at the commissioner meeting, to the front of the courtroom where he read the proclamation.

“Everybody knew Ms. Linda Fulghum, and what fun she was and a tough lady,” said Mayor Pulse who continued with a sincere and affectionate laugh. “We all have our stories and we miss her.”

Pulse read the proclamation in full and his appreciation could be felt with each word.

“. . . Where as Linda K. Fulghum was a lifelong resident of Hardeman County, Tennessee and served her county with honor and distinction as circuit court clerk for approximately 50 years . . . let me say that one more time, approximately 50 years of service. She was the longest serving clerk in the State of Tennessee at the time of her retirement.”

When her family was asked about Mrs. Fulghum’s dedication to the Hardeman County community, her daughter-in-law, commented, “I think her 50 plus years of service answers that question. She loved helping people in whatever capacity she could, and her tenure as circuit court clerk was just an extension of her desire to help others.”

Mayor Pulse presented the Fulghum family with the proclamation.

“It is heartwarming to know that our community loved Linda as much as we did. She truly served Hardeman County well, and we are so touched that her service impacted others to move them to recognize her in this special way,” said Ellen Fulghum. “We are very thankful to Mayor Pulse and the Hardeman County Commissioners for honoring her.”

Linda K. Fulghum, passed away on March 11, 2023.
