Governor Lee Grants Pardon to Hardeman County Man

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has announced executive clemency decisions for 16 individuals, including one Hardeman County man, Stephen Robinson.

“After thoroughly reviewing the merits of each case, I have decided to grant 16 individuals executive clemency,” said Lee. “Each individual case is unique and warranted consideration, and I thank the Board of Parole members for their thoughtful recommendations throughout this process.”

In July of 2011, in the Circuit Court of Hardeman County, Tennessee, Stephen Robinson was convicted of two counts of passing a worthless check. Mr. Robinson had a substance abuse problem that led to his offenses, but after serving his 20 nights in jail, he entered a 28-day rehabilitation program.

Subsequently, Mr. Robinson helped found the Hardeman County drug court, and he served as director of the Hardeman County drug court for two years. Mr. Robinson next served as executive director at the Warriors Substance Abuse Treatment Center in Bolivar. In addition, Mr. Robinson is an ordained minister, certified anger resolution therapist, and peer recovery therapist. The Tennessee Board of Parole recommended granting a pardon to Mr. Robinson.
