Grand Junction Library Summer Reading Program Features “All Things Great Outdoors”

The Grand Junction Library kicked off its Summer Reading Program on Thursday, June 6, 2024, with a theme of “All Things Great Outdoors” and a great attendance for its first week. Campers enjoyed a reading session, participated in craft activities, and enjoyed a snack that focused on Taking Care of the Outdoors.

“You may think the refreshments are everyone’s favorite but crafts and reading are up there at the top of everyone’s list,” said Grand Junction Librarian Dianne Callahan who believes this summer reading program will be the best one ever.

There was also a tee shirt give-a-way for every child, and they were able to choose a free book to take home and keep.

The Grand Junction Library Summer Reading Program continues through the month of June every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with the following focuses:

June 13 – Camping and Hiking

June 20 – Insect Friends

June 27 – Tennessee Birds

The library is preparing for its next reading program session on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

“Moose the support dog will visit and he is always a favorite. After loving on Moose, we will have reading, then crafts, then refreshments, and will finish off with a wristband giveaway for each child,” said Ms. Callahan who encourages children to come to the library, and have fun with them for the program.

The Grand Junction Library Summer Reading Program is for children through the age of 10 years old. All children attending the program must be accompanied by an adult.
