Hardeman County 4-H Meats Judging Success

The UT Extension Western Region 4-H Meats Judging Contest was held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in Jackson. Hardeman County 4-H was represented by five senior high members and four junior high members at the contest. The 4-H members identified 30 retail ID cuts, placed a class of pork loin chops and a class of T- bone steaks, answering five questions on each class.

The Junior High team of David Gibson, Jerrod Goodrum, Hannah Gibson, and Bella Watkins brought home the title of Regional Champions! Hannah was the second high scoring individual for the contest and David Gibson placed fifth.

The Senior High team of LeeEllen Ross, Alexandria Foster, Brianna Foster, and Raquel Kirk also brought home the Championship in their division. Brianna Shields competed as an individual at the event but will travel with the team to the state contest at UTK in June. Brianna Foster was the second high scoring individual and Brianna Shields placed fifth in the senior high division. The teams were coached by Hardeman County 4-H Agent Gary Rodgers.
