Hardeman County Carl Perkins Family Feud Fundraiser Sells Out!

It was a battle not ever seen before in Hardeman County and a gathering of the most unlikely “family members” for the Carl Perkins Center Family Feud Live Celebrity Edition which was held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, and ended up being sold out! The event was a fundraiser for the organization and a night of entertainment, at the expense of the contestants, who did not mind giving of themselves for a great cause.

Family Feud Live paired Team Lawyers against Team Bankers, Team Teachers against Team Principals, and Team City against Team County, with hosts Tim Moss and Bodeen Denton “in charge” of keeping order during each game with competitive participants. Bodeen Denton was dapper in attire as always and Tim Moss came dressed as the joker he usually is whenever he appears on the Hardeman County Arts Council stage.

The Family Feud Live game was played just as is the familiar daytime show currently hosted by Steve Harvey. The goal of the team members is to guess the top answers from surveyed people on a variety of questions. The questions were thought provoking, made one curious, and several times during the evening led to comical responses.

Some of the questions included:

1) Name a profession through which an ugly person might become famous.

2) Name a word you might use to describe a dog that could also describe your partner.

3) About how many pages is the longest book you’ve ever read?

Team Lawyers had players Ben Ayers, Steve Hale, Shana Johson, and Colin Rosser. Team Bankers had players Catherine Holt, Shelby Miles, Karlie Mills, Sharron Murden, and Bonnie Sanford.

Team City had players Demetrius Beauregard, Julian McTizic, Carri Beth Rhea, and Suzanne Rhea. Team County had players John Doolen, Tonet Griggs, Eunice Gudger, Sandy Hammons, Josh Pulse, Todd Pulse, Casey Swift, and Harriet Thompson.

Team Teachers had players Lori Arnold, Reco Britteman, Connie Bufford, Michael Burgess, Lee Lynn Campbell, Lurean Price-Cheairs, Amanda Downen, Shanna Glover, Takisha Higgs, Linda Johnson, Kim Leathers, Brandy Griggs-Logan, Sharon Kea, Ashley Majors, and Nancy Stephenson. Team Principal had players Brittany Avent, Ginger Crowe, Kelsi Nave and Joyce Woods. The Team Principals had an “ace in their pocket” with Joyce Woods, who previously appeared on Wheel of Fortune in March 1986 (aired June 9, 1986) and came home a winner with $17,400.

A couple of funny questions posed to Team City and Team County were:

1) At your job, out of the 60 minutes in each hour, how many do you spend doing actual work?

2) Name something you do when you run out of toilet paper.

In between each team game, Fast Money matches were played with participants selected by drawn names from audience members. They too had to select the top responses from surveyed people from their questions. One question was to name a Disney Princess. Who knew Minnie Mouse was a princess? Well, according to the survey, other people responded in the same manner earning Lily Barnes 14 points.

Todd Pulse, with his fast talking auctioneer skills, accepted bids for the numerous donated prizes some of which included luxury vacation stays, a show by illusionist Braden Foster, and a Blackstone grill.

The winners of the Carl Perkins Center Family Feud Live Celebrity Edition were Team Lawyers, Team Teachers, and Team City.
