Hardeman County Commission Meeting – February 2023 {video}

The Hardeman County Commission met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Some of the items covered include:

  • Members to a newly formed Bicentennial Committee were appointed by Mayor Todd Pulse and approved by the Commission. Members include: Commissioner Brad Grantham, Ken Savage, Cissye Pierce, Pat Plunk, Heather Teubner, and Kenny Adkins.
  • Vanessa Lambert (Hardeman County History Book Committee member) and Clint Oftedahl (Acclaim Press Publisher) presented the Commission with a request for $20,000 in monetary support to help publish the Bicentennial history book. The request was referred to the newly formed Bicentennial committee.
  • Election Commissioner Amber Moore expressed her desire for a new building for the election commission. She commented that their current location has a moisture problem and they need more space. She would like for the County to build a new building for the Election Commission. She would need to be in the new building by the end of 2023. The request was referred to the Buildings Committee and will be discussed at their next meeting on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 6 p.m. at the Courthouse.
  • Bolivar Energy Authority President Tony Kirk gave an update on the broadband internet infrastructure development. There are 576 residents now being served though Aeneas and 316 are waiting to be connected.
  • Commissioner Bethany Miller recognized four ambulance department employees for over 30 years of service. Those recognized were Harvey Vandiver, Tommy Parchman, Matt Ernst, and Kim Hines.
