Hardeman County Imagination Library’s “Thank a Mailman Day” Brings Smiles to Postal Workers

Members of the Hardeman County Imagination Library (HCIL) affiliate group celebrated “Thank a Mailman Day” (a week late due to the ice storm) with 40 treat bags prepared for all the mail carriers in Hardeman County. The bags, along with “Thank You” signs, were delivered to county Post Offices on February 10, 2026, ready for the next day when mail carriers arrived at work to sort and deliver the mail.
Mail carriers play a big part in the Imagination Library program by delivering books every month to enrolled children. The Hardeman County Imagination Library (HCIL) affiliate group wanted to show their appreciation with a little something to make that job more enjoyable.

Hardeman County has nearly 900 children, from birth to age five, enrolled in the program. While the books are free for the children and their families, there is still the cost of books and postage that must be paid by someone. In Tennessee, half of this cost is currently paid by the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, but local affiliates such as HCIL still must pay the other half. HCIL’s monthly bill usually runs over $1000.00.
If you would like to help this program continue, please consider sending a donation to HCIL, P.O. Box 501, Bolivar TN 38008. For online donations, go togovernorsfoundation.org/give/individual-giving (Be sure to select Hardeman County).
