County Discusses EMS Options After West TN Healthcare Terminates Bolivar Contract
The Hardeman County Ambulance Committee met on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, to discuss emergency medical service (EMS) options for the whole county since West Tennessee Healthcare’s Medical Center EMS (WTH EMS) has announced the termination of its contract with the City of Bolivar. {read article}

City of Bolivar Swears in Council Members
Four newly or re-elected Bolivar City Council members were sworn in on Saturday, July 1, 2023. During the swearing in ceremony, they each took the following oath of office marking the beginning of their 4-year term. {read article}

Tennessee Tourism Commissioner Ezell Visits Hardeman County
County and municipal officials, chamber of commerce representatives, as well as community members filled the Bolivar municipal conference room to hear from Tennessee Tourism Commissioner Mark Ezell during a work session last week. { read article}

Dr. Jerri C. Jackson Named New Oakland Elementary Principal
Fayette County Schools Superintendent Dr. Versie R. Hamlett is delighted to announce that Dr. Jerri C. Jackson has been selected as the new principal of Oakland Elementary School (OES). Dr. Jackson is a seasoned educator with 19 years of experience spanning two states, Arkansas and Tennessee. { read article }

Toris Woods Receives Basketball Award at Columbia State
Toris D. Woods was one of 150 Columbia State Community College (CSCC) students who were honored for excellence in academics, leadership, and service at the 57th Annual Student Honors Convocation. {read article}

Hardeman County Master Gardeners invite the public to hear Bart Jones presentation on “Native Plants for the Landscape” on Monday July 10, 2023, at 6 p.m.
DIXIE HILLS BAPTIST CHURCH HOLDING BLOCK PARTY
Dixie Hills Baptist Church is sponsoring a block party on Tuesday July 11, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the green space beside the post office, across from the courthouse. There will be free hotdogs, free popcorn, free shaved ice, balloon animals, games, and a bounce house! Everyone of all ages is welcome to come enjoy themselves. This is an outreach to the community with no obligation from anyone attending. We look forward to seeing you there!
COMMUNITY GARDEN
If you are wanting to try your hand at gardening this year, check out the City of Bolivar Community Garden.
LIBRARY HAPPENINGS
Check out what is happening this week at the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library, Grand Junction Library, and Middleton Library during their Summer Reading programs.
EXERCISE CLASS
Line Dance and Fitness Class will be held at the Bolivar Municipal Center, 211 North Washington Street, Bolivar, 38008, on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 5 p.m. (advanced class) and 6 p.m. (beginner class), and on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 5 p.m. (advanced class).
SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAMS
The Lee Ola Roberts Library and Simon Chapel Baptist Church are two of the locations throughout Hardeman County that are offering a summer lunch program.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
There are several Hardeman County churches holding Vacation Bible School this summer. If you know of a church with a program this summer and it is not on the list, e-mail news@hatchiepress.com to get it added.
