Hardeman County Fiber Project Finishing Early, $5 Million Under Budget
Last summer, Bolivar Energy Authority (BEA) and Aeneas announced their partnership to build and expand a Gigabit fiber network to bring broadband communications to the BEA service area. Tony Kirk, President of Bolivar Energy Authority, shared last week that the project was near completion – six months early and under budget.
“We finished six months early. We’ve completed the mainline pullout in Hardeman County. We’re finishing in Mississippi right now, the little service area we’ve got there, and we’re five million dollars under budget,” celebrated Mr. Kirk at the Bolivar City Council meeting. “Our crews and our staff have worked really hard. I appreciate the support we’ve got from y’all.”
Kirk also shared that 933 miles of mainline fiber has been built throughout the county. Currently, 2,843 active customers, of which 177 are commercial customers, are subscribed to the service. Only a small portion of final connections need to be completed in Grand Junction before high speed Internet is accessible to the entire BEA coverage area in Hardeman County.
