Three Winners Walk Away with Prizes at the Hardeman’s Got Talent Contest {video}

There were just eight acts that competed in the Hardeman County Arts Council’s (HCAC) Hardeman’s Got Talent (HGT) contest on Saturday, October 1, 2022, but those eight brought great talent and put on a really good show. This year, there were not only singers, but a dancer, and a magician/illusionist with great comedic timing that kept the audience (and him) “tied up” in stitches.

Brian Lee Howell, Elvis impersonator, returned as the emcee for the evening. Howell took to the stage with confidence and commanded it as Elvis would.

Before the competition started, Howell, who has been performing professionally for 17 years as an Elvis impersonator, encouraged the contestant to never give up on their talent and dream regardless of how they place in the contest.

Michael Fletcher sang “Where the Hood Meets the Woods” and Amy Jo sang “Swamp Water”, both original songs.

Gabriella Taylor choreographed her dance performance. Sadie Fry who was last seen on the HCAC stage in Honky Tonk Angels sang “When I Look at You” by Miley Cyrus. Jeremy Lawson (2021 HCAC’s Hardeman’s Got Talent winner) and Angel Munoz performed their version of Tim McGraw’s “It’s Your Love”.

Elvis was in the building when Howell took to the stage and performed some Neil Diamond and, of course, Elvis songs.

Nate Foster sang “If I Can’t Love Her” from the Broadway show Beauty and the Beast. Megan King sang “Part of Your World” from the Little Mermaid.

Braden Foster (and his stool) brought a shift to the evening. He was introduced as a magician, but his comedic flair was immediately evident.

Every magician needs an assistant, and Braden was able to lure two willing volunteers from the audience. Besides the stool, Braden also had a deck of cards, and a straight jacket.

The challenge Braden posed to himself for the entertainment of the audience (and his talent) was that he could free himself from a straight jacket and correctly present the card, his volunteer chose and signed, all in two minutes. So the timer was started.

Because of the quality of talent, it is always difficult for the judges to decide the winners, and this year was no different.

After careful consideration, the winners were announced.
