HCAC Announces Its 2022/2023 Theatre Season

The Hardeman County Arts Council has set its 2022/2023 theatre season and it includes some well-known stage and musical favorites as well as an originally written production from Hardeman County playwright Monita Carlin.

“We are excited to announce our 2022-2023 season,” said HCAC President Brandon Burvee. “We look forward to bringing you four fantastic productions produced with local talent from Hardeman and surrounding counties. We have two large productions this season that includes Honky Tonk Angels to kick it off in September, featuring a live band and over “30 classic toe-tapping country songs”. Our children’s Christmas production is being written by Hardeman County’s own Monita Carlin, and in February of 2023, we will have the annual HCAC Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre. Then, Mamma Mia will close out the year in June of 2023.”

HONKY TONK ANGELS

Honky Tonk Angels cast and musicians have already been in rehearsal for the past month. This musical places us in the lives of “three gutsy gals from different backgrounds” as they decide to take charge of their lives. They head to Nashville to pursue their “honky tonk dreams” and take the audience along for the ride singing classic country tunes that include “Stand By Your Man,” “9 to 5,” “Harper Valley PTA”, and more.

WHO STOLE SANTA’S PANTS

Christmas is almost here and Santa cannot find his pants. Santa is quite upset that his pants are missing and it seems as if he is going to miss the Bolivar Christmas parade. This original production will definitely get the family in the Christmas spirit providing laughs along the way.

CRAB CAKES AND MURDER

Crab Cakes and Murder is the HCAC’s dinner theatre production for the season. The HCAC dinner theatres are always a treat for audience members with the performance on stage and off stage with the appetizing meal and dessert served. Dinner guests will try to discover the mystery behind Captain Savage Raines’ disappearance at sea. There is no need to feel sorry for the “murdered” who as for all HCAC dinner theatres always seem to be ones deserving of their fate. In fun, the cast is always engaging as audience members try to guess “who dunnit”!

MAMMA MIA

After the quality 2021/2022 season musical production of Disney Aladdin, JR., the HCAC continues in grand faire with Mamma Mia. Audience members will enjoy the hilarious story of Sophie who is seeking the identify of her birth father, on the eve of her wedding. Be whisked away to a Greek island paradise and watch the story unfold through ABBA songs.

“The HCAC has been ‘Bringing you the best of the arts’ for over 20 years, and we look forward to continuing to bring you local, family-friendly, quality entertainment for many years to come,” said Burvee.

Tickets for Honky Tonk Angels will go on sale this week.
