Herb Parsons Lake Reopens after Storm Damage
FAYETTE COUNTY – Herb Parsons Lake reopened on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, following extensive storm damage. The area is now safe for visitation, but visitors should remain cautious as some limbs are still loose and could possibly fall with the wind.
On Sunday, June 25, 2023, a significant storm accompanied by over 70 mph winds passed through Shelby and Fayette Counties damaging trees, knocking out power, and causing extensive damage to the lake area. At Herb Parsons, more than 75 trees were destroyed by the wind, which resulted in blocked access, downed power lines, and damage to property and buildings.
