Hickory Valley Fire Department Closer to Raising Funds for Fire Truck

The Hickory Valley Fire Department held a fish fry fundraiser in July.

The Hickory Valley Fire Department is continuing its effort of raising $100,000 towards the purchase of a new fire truck by holding a Firetruck Fundraiser Raffle on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the fire station from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The department is about $35,000 shy of its goal and hopes to raise the funds before the new truck arrives in February 2025.

All people are invited to attend the fundraiser and meet the Hickory Valley firefighters, who serve that community. The fire crew includes 12 volunteers and six active members. There will be an opportunity for the community to take pictures with the firefighters as well as tour their current working truck. Hot dogs will be served, there will be a corn hole tournament, and a movie, Firehouse Dog, will be shown. The big event of the day will be raffle drawings of two Memphis Grizzlies against Denver Nuggets basketball tickets for the Sunday, November 17, 2024, game and a $50 Hooters gift card.

Hickory Valley Fire Chief Mike Vaughn is appreciative to the many people who have already donated to the cause. He has been with the Hickory Valley Fire Department for 10 years and six of them as the fire chief. The new fire truck will serve a great need for the community.

“The fire truck will help with a better response time on calls and enable us to have more water,” said Chief Vaughan.

Senator Page Walley, along with Representative Johnny Shaw, announced in December 2022 that Hickory Valley had secured a $327,943 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to go towards fire services improvements. As a part of the matching grant, Hickory Valley needs to raise $100,000.

Anyone wishing to donate may send a check, made out to Hickory Valley Fire Department – Truck Fund, to City Hall at 7115 Highway 18 South, Hickory Valley, Tennessee 38042.
